Videophone can be extended with analog CCTV cameras, thanks to which the access control and supervision system can more accurately verify the identity of the clients. Unfortunately, this type of solution will not meet the basic function of video door systems, which is video monitoring activated only when the call is initiated by the client.

Wired video intercoms in the city on the Brda River (Bydgoszcz) are mainly made in the form of multicore intercoms. Multicore video surveillance systems are equipped with hands-free monitors with LCD TFT matrixes, as well as external cassettes with wide-angle cameras. This type of wired video control components cannot be extended with additional CCTV cameras.

Wired video systems are divided into four-core and two-core video intercoms. Four-core solutions enable single and double connection and allow for using up to four monitors and up to four external cassettes. Two-core videophones are systems enabling the installation of up to 4 outdoor stations. Such systems provide much wider functionality, as well as simpler installation and excellent image and sound quality.

Wireless video intercom: radio and IP constructions

Wireless video intercoms are currently one of the most-favored access control systems. They offer high comfort of use, flexibly adjust to the protected space and provide easier assembly.

An interphone that does not require cables can be made in radio technology and communicate in the frequency of 2.4 ~ 2.4835 GHz or use the Internet protocol IP for operation - then we are dealing with IP intercoms. Wireless digital video intercoms are characterized by much greater capabilities, wider functionality, as well as the ability to support multiple users at the same time without unnecessary expansion of the access control network.

Such solutions are perfect for large installations in closed settlements. What's more, wireless IP video door phones do not require a monitor, and calls can be received from the mobile app on smartphones, tablets or PCs.
